Using Web 2.0 Tools and Moodle PDF Print E-mail
Have you ever thought about how new technologies have the potential to engage your students? There are many powerful web based tools that teachers of all levels and disciplines can use to create an interactive learning environment that empower students and teachers. 

Do you know what Moodle is? Do you know it can create rich interactions between teachers and students? Moodle is an open-source course management system where teachers can create engaging web-based courses through the development of activities and resources.

Throughout this workshop participants will be provided with demonstrations and through discussion and practical application develop their knowledge and understanding of how emerging ICT technologies can be incorporated into their teaching and learning programs.


Workshop Outline

After participating in this workshop teachers will be able to:

  • Create and maintain a blog
  • Use wikis as a teaching tool
  • Develop and utilise RSS feeds
  • Learn how to develop podcasts.

Note: This workshop is designed for teachers of all skill levels. Ideally you will have an understanding of the basic functions of Moodle or have participated in the "Moodle a connected classroom" workshop

Session 1 - Introduction to Moodle & Web 2.0

What is Moodle and Web 2.0? How can Moodle be intergrated into the 21st century classroom and engage our students? How can Web 2.0 tools be integrated into Moodle?

Session 2 - Creating and Maintaining Blogs

In this session we will look at how teachers can incorporate blogs into the classroom using Moodle.

Session 3 - Creating and Maintaining Wikis

Learn how to create and maintain wikis in Moodle.

Session 4 - Developing Podcasts

Create a podcast using Audio editing software then see several examples how Moodle can deliver podcasting to your students.

Session 5 - Utilising RSS Feeds

What is RSS? How can RSS feeds work in the classroom?
